Sagada is a "mere" 6 hour trip from Baguio hehe...although its only about 140 kilometers from Baguio, the road leading to Sagada consists of sharp curves, zig zag, uphill and rough road portion that's why Busses took almost 6 hours of getting there...but it wont be a boring ride as the Benguet/Mountain Province countryside will provide plenty of sights...
Upon arrival: dropped by at a random inn (there's plenty in Sagada)...250.00/night...then had our lunch (well its almost 4pm) at Yoghurt's House...and also tried their Yoghurt (tastes yummy pero di ko naubos)...
Then explored the surrounding areas, St.Mary's Church and the St Mary's school which were founded by Rev.Staunton and his wife in the early 1900's...
Next day we went with other local tourists and a Japanese on a "cave connection" not just the ordinary "big cave" that most tourists explore (which only consist of exploring Sumaging Cave)...the cave connection is a much longer spelunking exploration that will take you along the three caves starting from Lumiang Cave where you will see dozens of wooden coffins at the mouth of the cave (burial cave) and then proceed to Sumaging Cave ("the big cave") and exit to another cave (Three caves in all)...
Magnificent rock formations, particularly limestone rocks formed by thousand of years of flowing water streams ( na super lamig ), exciting parts of the caves are the so called "tunnels" where small passageways requires crawling movements along cold waterways as well (which includes crossing chest deep waters guided by a rope)...
The rock formation are so fascinating the guides have dubbed some of the rock formations as the "King's Curtain", "Rice Granary", "Cauliflower", "Dancing Hall", "King and Queen" etc.
it took us 6 hours of exploring the three caves,...end result = muscle and joint pains...but it was all worth it as one of the guides told us "you will appreciate the beauty of Sagada through these caves"...
Then we went to echo valley, and had a look with the hanging coffins...there's lot of other places worth seeing like the Big Falls and underground river...well, till next time, hopefully i'll have an extra day or two to explore all of Sagada.
