One of my favorite places so far is Quiapo, located in the heart of Manila its the place where people converge with each other. The religious ones, students, leftist militants , hookers, junkies and the occasional thieves which scares those whom have never been to this place before. Generally a safe haven for blokes like me. I feel more secured rummaging around this place than lets say Greenbelt in Makati. I’ve scored over two hundred pirated DVD’s in this place. Sue me for buying pirated stuffs.
I remember during my college days me and my friend Jacob would skip school and instead spend our day just walking around Quiapo, sometimes we would buy hard to find cd’s by bands like Pennywise, Sham 69 and Bad Brains. Jacob got all of his original Clash cd’s from this place. At that time it is priced at 250.00 each, cheaper compared to the 450.00 price that record shops at the malls are charging.
Bottomline; I love going to these kinds of places, Cubao, Divisoria, Quiapo and Avenida, its very much alive, the people, the historic old buildings, the city itself, this is not some pretentious place like Rockwell or Greenbelt which is awash with fake plastic people…

plaza miranda during my college years was my fave when the fiesta is approaching. i'll never forget the amateur singing contest where there was this ready gong to signal a hopeful is not fit to continue singing.

 | Like you, Quiapo is where I get my CDs. Why score it for Php450 in malls when you can have it for Php250 or even less? Same quality naman... |

| noong first time kong magpunta sa rockwell nagkape ako sa starbucks,tapos may tumitingin sa aking babae,eh ang hitsura ko noon mukha akong gusgusin naka white shirt lang ako saka short.as in hindi katulad nung girl na sosyal ang dating nya then nagsmoke sya.ang tingin nya para nya akong gustong tapakan at nababasa ko sa isip nya na.."di nababagay tong babaeng to dito" then napatid ang bag ko,tumawa ba naman..muntik kona ngang sapakin eh! then bago ako umalis sabi ko sa sarili ko.."hindi kopa alam,pok-pok ka naman" |

 | Wah! I always go here to buy DVD's!!! And yeah, this is one of my favorite places too. :) My buddies and I are planning to have a photoshoot there, but I am sort of afraid to go there with my cam. hehe! You know :) Just looking at the people, and listening to their noise is, i don't know what word, but it sure does make my heart smile. haha! Drama!

There was this time, that my bf and i went to Quiapo and Recto, sobrang dugyot galore..pero after that we took LRt and Mrt (not that we dont have a car, but were more after the experience) to get to Greenbelt, Powermac center and ate at Bubbagump...
I definitely loved the transition coming from Quiapo going to Makati..and to think that we went to greenbelt without taking a shower and wearing only shirt and tattered jeans...Bottomline is, ang pagiging plastic, minsan ay brought about by the "dress to impress" attitude. (Pag greenbelt dapat gimik attire, pag quiapo punks porma, wtf?!) No one really cares, what you wear. Haha...seryoso?!?! Btw, nice photos! Is this film? and yeah kamukha mo nga si Maddox! :D |

Chaos,DVD's, jewelery, CD's, Bike parts, Bad Religion, Herbs, Charms, Fortune Teller, Electronics parts, Assorted bootlegs, Camera, Chinese Food, Chicks, Old Buildings, Old People, Beggars, Homo's, Prostitutes, Bad Cops, Good Cops, Bad Seeds, Second Hand Stuf (Camera, Watch, Guitars, Pedals, Playstation) Buy and Sell (Bentang Addik), Electronic parts.....all of these you can find all over QUIAPO....love the place much exciting than the malls...who cares if it is madumi at magulo thats the real deal thats where the fun stuff happends...nothing had change in quiapo |
