Part of what i'm trying to do in lowering my cholesterol level is to avoid eggs every breakfast. So yesterday I tried a bowl of Quacker Oatmeal. While eating it i can't help but think of tapsilog, tocilog or any dish that includes fried rice and a sunny side up egg. I never got to finish my bowl of Quacker Oatmeal. I think i'll go to plan B which is to consume lots of fruits. Bananas, Mangoes, Pineapple and the likes. How the hell i ended up with a high cholesterol level? For starters, I like to indulge myself in KFC chicken, pork adobo, sinigang na baboy, porkchops etc. Some people are telling me "why worry you're still young". But hey! having a high cholesterol level can cause your heart to suffer, clogged arteries and shit like that. Besides young people are suffering from heart ailment. Ely Buendia of Eraserheads, how old is he? mid 30's to late 30's? that's still young. So, its never bad to have extra caution. Even though i seem pissed off and ranting most of the time, I still love my life , I still have a lot of places in my list that i wanted to go to, before i call it a life. So there, Oatmeal can greatly reduce your cholesterol level, but it's like eating air. So another option is to indulge in lots of fruits, avoid milks and creams, ice creams and chocolates, fatty foods, in short "lahat ng masasarap" (well not really avoid those kinds of foods, just lessen your intake), yesterday i still had breaded fried chicken for lunch, so yes, I can't really avoid it all. But I make sure that i get to take lots of Potassium and Fibers. Fruits juices also helps as well. And a bit of exercise. Think I'll have to go back to either playing basketball (with my busted knee) or hiking again (calling Don Rudieboy, lets hike man).
 | i'm sure you've heard of the atkins diet ... south beach diet ... they do sound like "kasosyalan" but they are actually sound, healthy "diets" ... no more eating air ... no more eating cardboard ... and they even let you eat at kfc, pork adobo, porkchops, etc...you have to know the rules of the diet ...stick to them for sometime ... then modify according to your taste :-) |
 | add a flavor to your oats to add taste ;) exercise is the key to a better health. just remember this "too much of something is bad enough". =) |
 | try adding fruits to your oatmeal. |
 | you're not fat or obese, you don't need to diet, you just need to keep yourself healthy =) |
 | hey! oatmeals are nice treats as well (if u get the hang of it, i guess).. but why not try the flavored ones? there are loads of flavors available out there..
& one more thing, u dont have to cut off all these "masasarap" foods that u enlisted, u myt as well try the alternates.. like ung mga less fat, 0% cholesterol.. mga ganung siyet po..
heheh im tryin to lessen my calories & cholesterol intake din kc e.. "diet" ata twag dun.. so, gudlak tsong.. =D |

we dont need to go on a diet naman, na pampapayat talaga, we just need to be aware on what were eating, kasi sa panahon ngayon talgang ang mga pagkain puro carbs & cholesterol na |
 | oatmeal prob'ly tastes like hog mash. they look the same too. so, they prob'ly taste the same. ;p |
 | Hun, it's QUAKER.
Y'know what I do? I put milk and a biit of sugar. then I either add fruits like berries or sprinkle Milo powder over it. :D Try it. it's yummy.
Also, avoid processed food if you can. Like eat tapa instead of corned beef out of the can. Or get reall tomatoes, not the canned ones. |
 | sorry dami din typo.
also, try to avoid oily stuff.
and yes, get laid. |
 | i love fatty foods. lagyan mo ng fruits ang oatmeal para mas okay. :)

 | SHET TAPSILOG. HIRAP NYAN MARKY. dito kasi mejo madali i-avoid ang fatty foods kasi puro gulay at tofu naman ang inooffer hehehe. wala pang baboy. =( miss ko na ren ang sinigang. |
 | i love oatmeal...i eat it everyday! i only add milk (non-fat). sometimes, i add fruits. i guess i'm just used to having it for breakfast since i was a kid (sometimes, i eat it for dinner). |
 | breakfast cereal, either bran or basta high fiber instead of oatmeal.
and yacon. |
 | add some fruits to your oatmeal. the more you think that you wont like the taste, the hardest it is to swallow. and avoid eating at KFC, or any fastfood, you'll never know how many times they use the oil to fry your chicken. try it steamed or grilled...mas masarap!
the best advice ata yung get laid to keep your body fit. :P |
 | hahahaha mukhang everyone agrees that getting laid or making out is the best exercise!
:P |

 | try cereals, there are a variety which are appealing to taste...tho sa Pnas its costly for sure padalhan kita : ) |
 | oatmeal had been a great part of my college life. tis my breakfast everyday and considered to be the staple food of the dorm (when were broke, it had been our main source of sustenance. lol.) talk about everyday bowel movement. and hey, it tastes better when you put ovaltine or milk on it..dont put too much hot water, make it sticky...i like it best that way (instant oat) |
 | and one more thing~ tis always self-discipline and dedication. no matter how much youve invested on vicky belo, or south beach diet....if your heart's not into it, then forget about it and pig out in KFC with their mutated chicken wings, roflol |
 | non fat milk dapat kasi pag milk lng ganun ren ur putting fats/cholesterol ren to the oatmeal...okay thanks for the advise...
yeah i'll continue eating KFC..pero di na masyado ka rampant like before... |
 | Oatmeal is actually pretty good ... just add some cinnamon, milk and sugar ... it's not bad ... or put choco powder and milk and it'll taste a bit like champorado =) hehehhe |
 | Filipino food is VERY fattening. I only have it maybe every few months. The trick is mainly the way you cook the food. Notice how filipino food is mainly FRIED and made with LOTS of sodium. There's so many more ways you can cook meat, frying is the laziest way you can probably cook. My hubby said the best way to cook your food is broil it, add herbs and spices. (I married a chef, I know) Instead of drinking juice, eat the fruit. It's much better. Juice is full of nothing but processed sugar, not good for you either. If you do buy juice, make sure you get 100% juice NOT concentrate. Stay away from Pork, the only pork product I eat is bacon, on occasion. Why would you eat pork when the Philippines has an abundance of FISH. Fish has a lot of omega 3s, good cholesterol from fish fat, lean protein, etc. If you eat dark meat, make sure it's lean. I don't get it when people eat actual FAT pieces from meat. Gross. As far as oatmeal, try eating it with brown sugar. That's the healthiest way to go and add the occasional fruit. If you eat cereal, try the ones made out of whole grains, and not loaded with sugar..like Special K or cheerios. If you eat frosted flakes, that totally defeats the purpose. Just like when people eat salad and DRENCH the damn thing with ranch...Yeah that's not healthy kids. Use low fat vinaigrettes not cream based dressing. Hahaha! Don't try the atkins or south beach diet, it's not as great as you think it is. It's a scam. :P Cause I don't believe in still being "healthy" by just eating all the dark meat and fatty food you can. The key is moderation, and making sure you eat whole grains, lean meat, fresh fruit and veggies. I can go on and on about this. I used to be such a health nut. I was pesco vegetarian in high school. Besides think of it this way, eating a lot of animal products is gross, pigs eat their own shit, chickens are prone to having flesh eating bacteria, beef and fish have a lot of parasites...Have you ever seen the Meet your Meat video? Here's the link http://youtube.com/watch?v=VIjanhKqVC4 |
