I'm used to commuting all my life, that riding a dirty bus that reeked of piss and cockroaches have become too ordinary for me. I'm used to it like rains falling from the sky. But yesterday's bus was something out of the "ordinary".
First, there's a fresh (i mean fresh out of someone's mouth) vomit in the second to the last row, no wonder the conductor told me that seats are available at the back. I'd give a million pesos to whomever who'll sit there.
I took a sit at the backend of the bus, where the engines are located, might as well been sitting on top of an oven because of the heat. But no choice, i'm tired of standing up.
Then a few small "baby" cockroaches decided to play at the window glass, unmindful of the passengers, these little bastards probably know that they were in a bus not in some room of some house in the suburbs.
Little cockroaches are probably thinking "cmon lets play, no one will spray baygon on us"
The smell inside the bus is a mixture of piss, vomit, shit and all other types of foul smell. The only entertainment i had was seeing other passengers cover their noses. One passenger told his friend to get off, but his friend told him back "sayang nakabayad na tayo".
I tried to sleep it off, but the bumpy ride and the accelerating and stopping of the bus wont let me.
But hey, that's part of a life of a commuter. I'd rather take public transportation than waste money on unleaded fuel driving a car, that will suddenly betray you and end up with an engine problem in the middle of Edsa (happened to me once, an overheat engine near Edsa White Plains)
**** But I'm excited because the bus that we will be riding to Naga City tonight offers "Lazy Boy" seats, so the expected 10 hour ride will be a sleepfest for me.
Caramoan Island, here we go...I'm enjoying this summer, taking advantage of my weekend off from work.
I'll be going with a few former officemates from Askmenow.com and three friends from multiply.
 | Have fun on the bus ride to Naga. Are those still as cold as refrigerators on wheels?
Cockroaches on the bus? I don't know if that's worse than Snakes on a Plane. |
 | Caramoan is a peninsula and hopefully you do know that most of the beaches/islands there are off-limits to people because Survivor Asia's shooting there. Good luck and enjoy! :) |
 | naga...ganyan din nasakyan ko papuntang parakale last week...ganyan talaga mga bus ata nila.hekhek |
 | the lazy boy seats going to bicol are GRRRRRREAT! the only thing i dont like about driving to bicol is the huge deadspot (dead miles?) where you will have no signal whatsoever. So unless you really liike the movie they're showing on the bus, better hope you truly are asleep, or eating your chickenjoy na baon. :) |
 | this post is so entertaining.. haha.. thank goodness i haven't ridden on a bus like that yet.. XD |
 | i miss traveling long hours on a bus, the way I used to when I go to elbi. it's a mind clearing moment... |
 | ah, the adventures we commuters face, right? ;-) post another blog on those lazy boy seats! should be an interesting read ;-) |
 | Totoo ba talaga yung sa Survivor dito? :-/
may Toilet din dyan sa Bus di ba? |
 | grabe talaga sa Bus sa Manila.. kakainis at hindi mini-maintain ng maayos. Parang hindi mga tao ang sakay... ano ba yan! kainis! Wala bang pwede pagreklamuhan? |
 | sosyalan si marky, pa-travel-travel na lang... |
 | hey, Naga! I'm going to naga sometime june! post about ur travel there.. though itotour rin kami ng friend ni JB who invited us :) .. and post pics about that bus with lazyboy seats ha? sounds like a great ride. Ang alam ko going to bicol there's this long bituka ng manok road right... with those lazy boys, i guess it'll just feel like ur being rocked like a baby when ur along the zigzag path na :) ... enjoy marky.... hahaha, i so know about those bus experiences... hello... may nakitaan nga ako, sobrang bago nung bus na sinakyan ko tapos may mamang, may hang over pa ata na sumakay ng bus with his famliy, as in wife and small kids ah, and he just vomitted then and there.. talk about kainis!!! as in bago ung bus... the conductor was so pissed when he saw it, tinanong ung kasama, bakit naman di ninyo binigyan ng supot manlang!... nga naman di ba? hahahhay... eniwei...enjoy ur trip... super saya ng year mo ah... :) |

 | Wow.. You're going to caramoan?! I'm envious. Im from bicol and i haven't been there yet. |
 | just got back...6:00 am...then i'll head back to work in an hour...tama super lamig ng aircon nung Bus to Naga...
will post the pics of Caramoan soon...pagod pa hahaha...ganda sobra....wow Philippines... |
 | Buses at night, especially the ordinary ones (w/o aircons), they're all driven by homicidal maniacs. Kahit athiest ka matututo kang magdasal hehe... |
 | that's what i missed about philippines.commuting on a public vehicle where all sorts of nasty stuff unite like voltes-v! where a ride on a bus is like an episode of x-factor or mtv's jack-ass. but still, the joy of seeing people pinching their noses to avoid the smelly stuff is quite entertaining. |
