MANILA, Philippines - Officials of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) may be held liable for the alleged gang rape that occurred inside campus last June 25, the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Friday.

A report over radio dzXL said according to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Deputy Executive Director Julito Vitriolo, university officials may be held accountable if it is proven that security inside the university was lacking and poor.

Vitriolo said the incident should serve as a wakeup call for other educational institutions to tighten up security and ensure the safety of its students.

The official also called on the Department of Budget and Management to increase the budget for state colleges and univer...

Back in college i had this break from 10am - 3pm when all i'd do was to sit on a bench surrounded by smokers until one day i decided that i'd smoke as well so as not to be the fucker that gets all the second hand smoke.

I'd smoke when i'm only at school, i was lucky not to be pulled deeper into that habit unlike my father who eventually smoked himself to death by consuming 3 packs a day.

So when i finally gave up smoking, there was no agony at all, i never counted hours, days and weeks, no sweating profusely and twiddling my thumbs that ever happened. I was that lucky i was able to become a cold turkey.

Just like Sickboy in Trainspotting who could easily give up drug use just to...

At Last, a Nikon D60 !

I bought it at a much cheaper price compared to the ones being sold at the malls.

I had to brush up on my aperture/shutter speed/ISO knowledge though, because I don't want to rely on the automatic mode, I want to come up with pictures that conveys lots of effects, vivid colors and rich textures aside from sharper images as well, by doing everything in manual.

I'm currently reading the manual booklet to familiarize myself with the set of buttons and controls of this DSLR.

I'm so excited to take pictures using this camera. But hey don't worry I'll use both this and my Holga camera on my next out of town trip. I wanted to take pictures of different places here in the Philippines and write corresponding travel journal entries as well, I'm hoping i could someday make a book out of it.

In the meantime, its a hobby that i'm definitely planning to enjoy.

Manny Pacquiao brings a much needed boost to our country beset by endless spate of bad news.

Hats off to David Diaz, who was a gentleman off the ring, the reason why instead of jumping into a wild celebration after knocking Diaz in the 9th round, Manny Pacquiao even attempted to help the Mexican and Chicago Native as a gesture of respect on his fallen opponent.

Who's next?
Taguig shuts down Embassy bar

When SOME spoiled rich kids parties, childish troubles usually occurs with no apparent reasons. Blame upbringing or blame the drugs?

"Taguig shuts down Embassy bar
By Rhodina Villanueva
Friday, June 27, 2008

The Taguig City government has ordered the closure of the Embassy bar at The Fort following a complaint filed against its disc jockey, who allegedly mauled a balikbayan customer inside the bar early morning yesterday.

The order was served by the Taguig Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) to the management of the Embassy Supperclub.

Alex Vargas, 20, a balikbayan, was allegedly mauled by the club’s regular disc jockey, DJ Pauly Mac early yesterday morning. No one from the club, particularly its bouncers, came to Vargas’ aid or pacified the suspect.

Relatives of the victim yesterday sought the help of Taguig Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga about the alleged maltreatment Vargas suffered in the hands of Embassy employees.

Acting on the complaint, the mayor tasked BP...

Multiply as a community

I don't know, but to me multiply is not just an online networking website. It's like a community to me, the real community wherein each multiply page is like a house built on a street, others serves as our neighbors whom we've gotten to know and become close friends with.

Others whom we haven't met are just there existing waiting for us to notice them, sadly sometimes a few of them meets an untimely demise. While it is correct that people die everyday, to the thousands in fact, to calamities, natural causes and even senseless crimes. Still when one of us here dies, we feel a sense of loss as well. Like a neighbor who passed away, we make it a point to visit their site and try to pay respects.

I have a multiply friend before who was brutally murdered in 2005. Her name was Sharon or fondly called as Shang. She likes to comment on my old multiply page and sometimes we would chat at YM. One day while watching the news i was shocked to see her picture atop a coffin and a corresponding news ...

Adjusting to the night shift

Seems like I'm starting to adjust working at night. I can now sleep from 6:00 AM - 12:00PM, a good 6 hours of slumber which is enough for me to replenish energy and go fighting. Oh now I'm talking "Mob Wars", anyway, the week seems to go much faster, time at night seems to pass more fluidly compared to daytime. Before you know it, it's 4:00 AM already and it's time to pack up and head home.

Commuting seems quicker as well, as jeepney drivers during 4:30AM have more freedom on the road and can drive like a madman during those times. You just need to hold tight though. Just yesterday morning we passed a blue Mitsubishi car that hit a parked MMDA truck, the driver was okay though except for a bloody gash on his forehead.

Probably fell asleep behind the wheel. I've experienced that as well, during the days when driving a car seems like a good idea, the time when unleaded gas was only 15.50 pesos per liter ($20.00 per barrell). When i still had my driver's license (running a red light g...

Ideal setting for reading a book

Feels great just lying on my bed with a mug of hot Milo by the bedside table with strong winds and rains wrecking havoc outside my window. Good thing the electricity is back, for much of Metro Manila it's still out. I'm currently on break from reading Paul Auster's "New York Trilogy" so far in the first story "City of Glass" i've learned about man's previous obsession with experimenting in discovering Man's true language.

This involves setting in isolation an unborn child and keeping him out of earshot of anybody speaking. There's this one instance in ancient Egypt, an Egyptian Pharaoh named Psamtik ordered the isolation of two infants and commanded his servants taking care of them not to utter a word in the presence of the two babies, according to Herodotus the babies did in fact learned to speak by themselves uttering the Phrygian word for bread.

Interesting things really do come up with reading a book, either its fiction or non-fiction. Now I have another topic to search on google a...

Cut up a film box or other piece of cardboard to the same length as the film mask, and half the height (or less than half if you want unbalanced frames).

Feel free to leave a jagged edge in your cardboard – it will have a cool effect on the photos. Keep in mind that your edge will be magnified in the picture – so the more perfect that you try to make it, the less perfect it will probably look.

Use some gaffers or electric tape to fasten the cardboard to either the top or bottom half of your Holga frame.

Load your film as usual and go shoot. For composition, keep in mind that you are shooting half-frame.

After your last shot, go into a dark room, a car trunk, or use a film-changing bag (about 10 bucks at most pro photo stores). By hand, roll the film from the take-up spool onto the original spo...

"Anal-ment Wedding Coverage"

My friend Don came up with the name for what we are planning as a semi-bizness, that is after we bought our own DSLR's. Figured we might as well earn some cheap money from it, charge less, take advantage of free wedding buffet and take photos of the bride and the groom with ratios of 25% of the bride, 25% of the bridesmaids, 5% of the groom, 20% both bride and groom (groom being out of focus) and the rest are pictures of the guests.

Kidding! of course we'd try to make it look like a kick ass set. Different concepts though, down and dirty pre-nuptial photo sets, not the traditional bride and groom trying to be cute in front of the camera. Concepts like post-apocalyptic wedding, nuclear missile aftermath, old skul 70's and hippie 60's.

Well, all of this are just plans as of the moment. To think that we planned having a laundry bizness in the past before. Me, Don and Jacobsladder, we even scouted locations at University belt to try and cater to the laundry needs of students living in boa...
